Chef’s Tips For the Perfect Brunch
1. Planning: The key to any successful event is a little planning. Plan out your menu, brunch table arrangement, and serving platters ahead of time.
2. Varied menu: Create a menu that uses a variety of different types of brunch foods, including sweet and savory options. Vary proteins, presentations, colors, and temperatures.
3. Make-ahead: My best make-ahead tip is, if it can be made ahead of time, do it. The less you have to do the day of your brunch, the more you get to enjoy it.
4. Lighten your load: Don’t feel like you need to make everything. A great way to lighten your work load is to supplement the menu with a couple of purchased items. If your local bakery serves amazing cinnamon rolls, it’s ok to buy them!
5. Drinks: Serve a variety of tasty drinks. Even when you think everyone will be drinking specialty teas, someone will ask for a Bloody Mary.
6. Create the vibe: If you’re looking for more mingling and less sitting, double down on appetizers, dips, and grazing platters and omit items that require you to sit to eat.
7. Table decorations: Spruce up your table with a few flowers or accents that fit the celebration.
8. Music: Decide ahead of time how and what to play. You don’t want to be fumbling for your favorite playlist while everyone else is eating.
9. Have fun: Your mood sets the tone: If you’re having fun, others will too.
